Family Emergency Preparedness Workshop
Workshop Outline and Resources
Most people today have become completely dependent on government services and infrastructure and are simply not prepared for even a brief interruption of basic needs such as food, water, energy, light, warmth, security, etc. And yet, historically, families and communities took it for granted that everyone was responsible for doing his/her part in preparing for not just short-term supply chain interruptions.
Growing food, knowing how build a shelter, sourcing clean water, have all been basic skills for previous generations. We must now recognize that these skills should be learned and taught once again. Both adults and children can help put together emergency kits, work on growing food and many other essentials for daily life. This can bring families and communities as we once sued to be – supporting each other and understanding that nobody survives alone. Independence has its place in our lives, but human beings need each other. This workshop will introduce participants in the basics to get you started. The rest is up to you.
